The Bear River GYC is a youth group aimed at making positive change in the community. GYC is comprised of about 35 students from 15 different schools. Leadership is comprised of 5 youth who conduct monthly district meetings and help plan the year's activities. Schools in the Box Elder, Cache and Logan School Districts participate in GYC and carry out activities at their respective schools. GYC actively works to raise awareness for policy change regarding tobacco and alcohol, along with other drugs. GYC also participates in the annual Red Ribbon Run sponsored by the Bear River Health Department.
Bear River GYC is also a part of Utah's Youth Advocacy Coalition. The Youth Advocacy Coalition is a collective effort of youth groups across Utah helping to create healthy
communities. The mission for tobacco prevention youth groups is to
empower youth and adult partners to create youth-friendly, tobacco-free
communities through advocacy, education, and environmental changes.
